Infographic: How the Galaxy S5 compares to the Samsung’s previous flagships

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 16MP camera and features such as improved HDR and Selective Focus mode.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 on Monday night at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new Samsung flagship has a 5.1-inch Full HD display, a 16-megapixel camera, a fingerprint scanner and a heart-monitor under the camera to name a few of the key features.

Samsung seems to have gone for less bling and over-the-top features this time and hasn’t updated the TouchWiz UI drastically other than changing the Settings app a bit. So how does the Samsung Galaxy S5 compare to previous versions of the smartphone? Well Samsung put out an infographic highlighting all the features and the evolution of the Galaxy S flagship line since the very first iteration, which put Samsung on the map. You can see how far the series has come.

The Galaxy S series over the years.

It must be noted that this infographic was put up by Samsung after an earlier one was taken down. That one showed the S5 in two variants, one with the quad-core processor and another with the Exynos 5422 octa-core SoC.

The most interesting takeaway from this infographic is the weight difference. Despite a display that’s more than a inch bigger, a larger sensor in the camera, plethora of sensors and a multi-core processor, the Galaxy S5 is only 27 g heavier than the first-gen Galaxy S, which is quite remarkable.
